Friday 27 January, 10pm – Midnight @ the Edge

BeeNoir is an interactive multiplayer music game, based on the idea of live coding and heavily inspired by Dave Griffiths Al Jazari. The audience can join the game using a JavaScript-enabled Browser on their smartphone (or other device) over WiFi. Each player takes control over a bee that can be programmed with a simple sequence of commands. As the bee executes the commands it will move, modify the playing field or produce sounds, which depend on the position and value of the tile the bee is on.

BeeNoir was presented at LINKS Biennale für Neue Musik in Heidelberg, ton:art 2011 in Karlsruhe and Next Level Conference 2011 in Cologne. The source code is licensed under GPL and available online.
